I have designed and delivered a number of training sessions and seminars.
In Russia in 2012, I worked on an assignment to run a 3-day training programme for project managers in the EU's representative office in Moscow. Working through topics such as communications planning, writing, presenting and media relations, the training was an introductory course focusing mainly on group work and exercises.
In Serbia in 2013, I ran a short series of one-day interactive workshops to 36 EU project managers on effective writing. In addition, I developed and managed two 2-day courses for Serbian Ministry staff tasked with the promotion of donor assistance projects. This course focused on perfecting communications skills in key areas such as publications, events, media relations, writing for the web, and social media skills.
I undertook several short-term assignments to Jakarta in 2011 and again in 2012 to assist the team of an EU-funded regional statistics project. My job was to organise an annual high-level conference on behalf of the ASEAN secretariat. This also included managing the press relations for the events as well as drafting and publishing a package of information materials. The conference in 2011, attended by a state minister, head of ASEAN and the EU ambassador took place on 4th November with over 120 participants and press. At the event, a plaque was presented to the newly created statistical body of ASEAN. A closing conference was held on 27th November 2012 to formally present the results of the project after four years.
Writing and editing
As an editor-in-chief on numerous projects, writing, editing, and proofing are also a major area of expertise for print materials (leaflets, brochures, reports), web sites, and media materials.
Capitalising on the real need for projects and managers for high-quality English-language editing services, I launched a new service, Perfectediting, in 2012. Perfectediting specialises in providing a high quality English-language editing service for European Union and international donor-funded projects across the globe.
Short term consultancy
I work on short term assignments across a wide range of communications disciplines all over Europe. Since 2012 this has included some of the following projects:
- Evaluating the EU information centre network in Bosnia, providing recommendations for outreach activities across the country
- Providing strategic communications advice to the European Commission in Serbia as well as organising training sessions for Government officials and EU staff on clear communications, visibility, and how to write in English
- Reviewing communications activities and programmes, drafting a communications strategy and project outlines for the EU Delegation in Belarus
- Undertaking an evaluation of the regional communications programme of the European Commission in the 17 neighbourhood countries of Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
As always, business development is a strong feature of my work - researching and writing projects, programmes and communications campaigns.
